Applying for Need-based Financial Aid

Lutheran North uses an independent, third-party (FACTS) to analyze financial aid applications and determine assistance need. Eligibility is based on many factors, including household income, expenses, assets, family size, and the number of children attending tuition charging educational institutions. Each case is evaluated individually.

FACTS Assessment

A student must submit a completed school admissions packet before Lutheran North will provide a financial aid package. Financial aid applications are now available for middle school for the 2023-2024 school year.

FACTS will charge a $35 processing fee when you submit your application. In addition, you will need to be ready to submit copies of Federal tax returns and supporting documents to show your income, including W-2s or 1099s if applicable, and proof of any financial support.
As part of a student's financial aid package, Lutheran North will offer scholarship awards and grants based on students' achievements, recommendations, and backgrounds.

Middle School Scholarships

  • Gold Scholarship

    This is an automatic award of $500 given to strong students based upon assessment of prior academic performance and achievements. The scholarship is renewable each year based on maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Principal's Scholarship

    An automatic $1,000 award for the highest achieving students based on the combined composite percentile score on a standardized test and adjusted GPA for incoming students. This scholarship is renewable each year on maintenance of a 3.5 GPA, for a total of $3,000 over three years.

Middle School Grants

  • Alumni Grant

    In recognition of the legacy of Christian education at Lutheran North, a student whose parent or grandparent is a graduate of our schools - Lutheran High (Central), Lutheran North or Lutheran South - will receive a $200 grant applied to tuition for each year. 

  • Educator Grant

    Dependants of a certified teacher or educational administrator currently working in a school will receive a $400 grant each year enrolled in the middle school.

  • Q: How can I afford tuition?

    Private school tuition varies greatly across the country and even within the St. Louis area. Students who are confirmed members in good standing of a Lutheran church in the Lutheran High School Association receive a $1200 discount. There are also multiple student discounts for families who have two or more students at Lutheran North at the same time.

    For some families, this tuition amount will seem daunting. While Lutheran North does offer tuition assistance for families who qualify and also awards several one-time and renewable merit scholarships for selected incoming freshman, the cost may still seem unaffordable especially when public school is virtually free. How does a middle-income family afford it?

    Commitment and mindset can be the key. When something as important as Christian education becomes a priority, it is easier to find a plan to make it work. If you believe that a Christian high school education is important in the academic and spiritual development of your son or daughter then sacrifices in other areas become acceptable if not essential. Some parents will need to ask the question: “What less important things can I do without or cut back?”

    It’s a tough thing to take a look at our comfortable lives and the lives of those around us and think about doing without. We’re not all that good at it. But is it worth it for what you can give your child? Committed Christian families, with the Lord’s help, are making it work to send their children to Lutheran High School North. Is it often a huge sacrifice? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Nothing is more important than the daily presence of God’s Word in the lives of your son or daughter. Nothing. The enduring value for your child of the investment you make now is well worth the sacrifice.

  • Q: How many students receive financial aid?

    All funds awarded are grants and do not need to be paid back.  About 50% of students receive financial aid.

  • Q: Are your students awarded college scholarships?

    Our graduates are offered millions of dollars in scholarships every year for academics, athletics, music, and other special talents.
