Under the Lights!

The Lutheran North Drama Program is open to all students as an co-curricular activity. Every student who auditions is invited to be involved either as an actor or technical crew. Students learn to work as a team through rehearsals, set and props construction, and sewing costumes.

The program is led by Brian Scheller, Lutheran North band director and Fine Arts Department chairman, and Robin Weatherall, a professional director and sound designer with more than 40 years experience in theatre.

There are two productions each year, the Fall Play and Spring Musical. Many opportunities exist for student involvement, from acting, singing, set building, lighting, and sound for each show.

Meet Jacob Roeglin

“Theatre is great to participate in, even if you don’t plan to pursue it as a career. Obviously, it helps with public speaking, and building confidence when you’re talking to a group of people. That’s something you need no matter what field you’re going into. But then you have things like memorization and keeping a clear head in a stressful situation. It helps with school, sports, and things outside of school. What I didn’t realize is it was more a friendship-building thing than anything. I don’t think I’ve ever been this close to a group of students before.”
